Thanksgiving & Walks
This past week was Thanksgiving and one of my favorite things during the holidays is getting the time to spend time with family. I loved that even though this pandemic had brought most of our family to be virtual during actual Thanksgiving. We enjoyed a family walk with just our immediate family like we always do in the best traditional way. In person.
My sister and brother in-law came back from Texas for Thanksgiving and my boyfriend joined us for the annual Thanksgiving walk. We started going on this walk about 6 years ago when my sister got back from college and my parents thought it would be a good idea to get some exercise before we stuff our face with all the good food that Thanksgiving brings us.
We have gone to all different parks around Peoria. Since we have two dogs, we usually have to find somewhere that will let dogs roam around without leases to hike. This year we went to Detweiler Park.
For anyone that knows about this park it holds the cross country state championships every year so it is a place that hold so many different and amazing memories. I have loved having it 10 minutes away from my house for the past 21 years. It will always bring up so many good memories especially since my whole family was there walking the trails this week.
The best years walk was at Robinson park, and then we have also done some of our Thanksgiving walks at Donovan Park. Either way, when all of us get together to walk a couple miles, I always leave with a huge smile on my face knowing we spent some really good quality time together.
